These activities include leisure cruises and intensive sailing training, conducted both in Quebec and internationally. They may involve varying levels of physical exertion depending on weather conditions, the type of vessel, and the duration of the sailing sessions.
Participants must be able to safely participate in all onboard activities.
1. Leisure Cruises
Leisure cruises require a general physical condition that allows for:
- Moving safely on a vessel while underway;
- Participating in basic maneuvers (handling lines, simple sail adjustments, moving about the deck);
- Adapting to normal or changing weather conditions;
- Boarding and disembarking the vessel, occasionally in unstable conditions;
Functional autonomy and normal mobility are required. No specific athletic ability is necessary.
2.Intensive Training, Courses, or Certifications
Intensive training requires more sustained physical and mental capacity, specifically allowing for:
- Performing repetitive maneuvers in variable wind and sea conditions;
- Working actively on deck (hauling, lifting, sail trimming, and crew coordination);
- Maintaining prolonged concentration during extended passages, including night watches;
- Reacting effectively in emergency situations or during complex maneuvers;
- Managing fatigue, cold, wet conditions, and changing sea states;
Good physical endurance, fatigue resistance, and sustained alertness are required.
3. General Conditions Applicable to All Activities
The participant must be able to:
- Maintaining balance on an unstable surface;
- Swimming or floating in the event of falling overboard;
- Following instructions in a dynamic environment;
- Operate in a maritime environment that can be demanding and unpredictable.
The participant declares that they are physically and mentally fit to take part in the activity and do not have any medical condition that could compromise their safety or that of other participants.
Any relevant medical or functional limitations must be communicated before the start of the activity.
The organizer reserves the right to limit or refuse participation if the safety of the participant, the crew, or the proper conduct of the activity is compromised.
